Dear Friends, Prayer Warriors, Loved Ones, and Supporting Churches:
Praise God, several items for which you have prayed for have been answered! First, the special services on September 27 and 28 were well attended. There were two professions of faith and seven first time visitors. Saturday the 27th, there were thirty-one persons who attended and there were twenty-seven who attended the Sunday services. One of the new visitors, Hayashi-san, returned Sunday and brought a visitor with her. Both have returned several times since then. Because of the attendance increase, we have had to place the pulpit in the opposite end of the room. This allows us to use the sun-room for worship space also. The new arrangement has increased our seating capability from 30 to 47.
The second answered prayer is the parking. God has provided us with an empty field that will park twelve cars comfortably; if they are packed in, eighteen cars will fit. This allows us to reserve spaces for two visitors' cars at the house where we hold the worship services. Start praying now for new facilities. When the twelve parking spots are filled regularly, we will then have a space problem at the house.
In our last letter, we mentioned a family in our neighborhood that visited with their son; the son has been attending the Wednesday evening prayer services regularly. Continue to pray for Takasu-san that he will continue to attend and grow spiritually. The two college girls Shimizu-san and Oyama-san are still attending regularly, but have not made any professions. Pray for their salvation. Make special effort to pray for Gotou-san. He attends the church college functions, but has not been to church services lately.
We had six college students attend our singles fellowship. We are now holding monthly meetings to reach students in the nearby universities. Pray that souls will be reached through this ministry. Pray for God's wisdom and direction as we are looking to hold English conversation classes at Tsukuba University.
New prayer requests: Pray for our Christmas evangelistic services on December 21 and 24. Pray for Steve as he is still recovering from shoulder surgery. The doctor is pleased with the surgery and therapy progress. Also, remember to pray for the Sunday School Class he is teaching each week. Continue to pray for the Nagaes.
In His Service,
Stephen O. Canter
